Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I am an experienced and qualified diver, can I dive alone and still be covered by the policy?
A1. Yes, providing you are qualified to undertake the Dive.
Q2. Is there cover under the policy for any other leisure or sports activities I may participate in during my trip?
A2. Yes, certain non diving activities are automatically provided by the policy. Additional activities including winter sports can be provided at an additional premium.
However if you are taking part in an activity which is not listed in the policy booklet you must contact us on 0845 2601628
Q3. Does the policy cover all my diving activities?
A3. You are covered for all diving activities without any limitation on depth provided you have the relevant qualification to make
the dive or you are under the supervision of a relevantly qualified instructor.
Q4. Is Decompression Hyperbaric treatment covered by the policy?
A4. Yes there is a specific cover available for up to £200,000 to meet the cost of transporting you to a hyperbaric chamber and
receiving hyperbaric treatment.
Q5. Am I covered if I am sick or injured, or bad weather prevents me from diving?
A5. Yes. If you fall ill or are injured during the period of insurance, and you are certified by a registered doctor as unfit to make
pre-arranged dives, you will receive £50 for each full 24-hour period of lost diving up to £250.
If you are a live-aboard guest where a doctor is not available, certification from the dive guide that you are unfit to make
pre-arranged dives will be acceptable.
This benefit will also apply in the event that severe weather conditions prevent you from diving.
Q6. Do I have to allow for my diving kit in the baggage limit or is there specific cover?
A6. There are specific sections for diving equipment and baggage each of which has its own £3,000 limit.
Q7. Can children in full time education be covered under a "Family Rated" annual policy?
A7. Yes. Children under 21, living at home and in full-time education on the date that cover commences, can be included.
Q8. What are the age limits under the single trip or annual policies you offer?
A8. There is no upper age limit for single trip policies although a limit of 74 yrs applies to Annual Multi trip policies.
Q9. Can I travel independently of my partner under a "couple" rated policy?
A9. Yes. Annual multi-trip cover for couples and families allows the adults covered under the policy to travel either together or separately.
Q10. Can I buy a travel insurance policy if I do not live in the UK?
A10. TRAVEL 4 SCUBA Travel Insurance will not be able to meet your needs if you live overseas, although however an alternative product
may be available; please call 0845 260 1628.
Q11. If my initial outbound or inbound flight is delayed, which results in me missing my connecting flight, am I covered under this policy?
A11. No, this policy does not cover missed connecting flights.
Q12. What is a pre-existing medical condition?
A12. A pre-existing medical condition is a medical condition where you, or any other person on whom the Insured persons' trip depends,
(including a Relative, travelling companion or Close Business Associate) have:
- a medical condition that could force You to cancel or cut short Your trip;
- been admitted as an inpatient in hospital in the last 24 months;
- ever suffered from, or received any form of medical advice, treatment or medication for: a stroke; any form of cancer,
leukaemia or tumour; a transplant; any heart problems; dialysis or diabetes; any blood disorder, breathing or respiratory
problems; psychiatric illness or dementia.
If you cannot agree to this Declaration you must go through the Medical Screening process. If you do not do this, your claim may not be met.
Q13. Do I have to declare the pre-existing health conditions of my close relatives or business associates?
A13. No, although you should know that if a close relative or business associate had a medical condition for which he or she;
- was waiting for a hospital consultation or treatment or receiving treatment, other than check-ups for a stable condition,
which have been arranged beforehand.
- had been given a terminal prognosis, or been told that their condition is likely to get worse in the next 12 months.
We will not pay any claim you or any insured person make that has anything to do with the medical condition of the close relative or business associate.
Q14. If I know of, a pre-existing medical condition concerning myself, my relatives, travelling companions or anyone else whose ill health
would force me to cancel or shorten my trip, can I still buy a travel insurance policy?
A14. Yes, but there will be no cover under the Cancellation & Curtailment, Medical & Treatment Expenses or Dive Pack sections
of your policy for any claims relating to the pre-existing medical condition unless (where necessary) you have gone through the Medical
Screening process and we have agreed to provide cover.
Q15. Is it possible to include cover for a pre-existing medical condition?
A15. It is possible that a pre-existing medical condition might be covered, although you would need to complete the Medical
Screening Process to be considered. If you do not complete this process, your claim may not be met.
Important Note: If a pre-existing medical condition means you could not get cover through TRAVEL 4 SCUBA Travel Insurance,
we may be able to offer an alternative product.
Q16. What are my options if my credit or debit card is not accepted?
A16. You can pay online using a Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or Delta card, and you should first of all check that your credit/debit
card is a card which is accepted by our payment provider. If it is a valid card, please re-try buying the policy, although we sometimes
experience delays particularly during busy periods. If you continue to be unsuccessful, please contact us on 0845 260 1628.
Q17. I have booked my travel insurance policy on the internet, but cannot download my policy documents, what do I do?
A17. Please contact us on 0845 260 1628 requesting a policy wording to be printed and sent to you through the post.
If you would prefer to email us, please ensure you quote your policy number and date you purchased the policy in your email request.
Q18. I want to cancel my policy, what should I do?
A18. You can cancel this policy within 14 days from the date you receive the policy wording and policy schedule, if after reading
the policy booklet you consider the policy does not meet your requirements, and we will refund your premium in full.
We will not refund your premium after this cooling-off period. If you have a single-trip policy, we will only refund your premium
if the period from the date we issue the policy until your scheduled return date home is greater than 28 days.

Q19. How do I make a claim under my policy?
A19. In the unfortunate event that you have to use your TRAVEL 4 SCUBA Travel Insurance policy, please call the claims line
on 0845 122 3280. The claims line is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you have a medical emergency while on
holiday, call Assistance international on +44 (0)2380 644 633.
Q20. Is there a time limit for making a claim under the policy?
A20. Only for legal expenses (180 days) for all other claims Please call us on 0845 122 3280 (+44 23 8031 2323)
and ask for a claim form as soon as possible after an event which you may want to claim for.
